Wireless Access Point and Fon

I bought a Fonera and Fontenna a while ago and have been running them in a room in the house while I tested it all.

This morning I thought I'd get it all sorted.

We also have a Linksys WAG354G Wireless Access Point that we use for 'internal' devices link my Nokia N800 and Marie-Laure's Palm Tungsten C.

I initially wanted to use the Fonera for all our wireless devices but it creates a "Double NAT" situation which really screws up SIP based VOIP phones , also the private signal uses WPA based encryption so the older Palm C is unable to connect to it.

I screwed the Fontenna antenna to a beam in the highest part of the loft facing West over the village , this distributes Internet Access over the nearby 'L'Auberge' Hotel Car Park and up the main street of the village.

The Fontenna is a highly directional antenna and seems to work well enough for our purpose , according to my Nokia , there is no signal emanating from behind the Fontenna into the house its all being blasted out in a Westerly direction.

I also attached the Fonera and Linksys devices to a seperate beam and got it all networked and powered up.

It all looks a little messy but is working well and out of the way now.

So if you ever find yourself in La Chapelle-Baton , 86250 , Poitou-Charentes region of France and need some Internet Access , its on.
